League Boundaries

Before registering, please confirm that you are eligible to join New Westminster Baseball Association by verifying your address or your child’s school is within the League Boundaries. Players must reside or attend a school within the NWBA league boundaries. New players must present Proof of Current Address OR Proof of Current School Attended AND Proof of Age of Child at an Information Session (please see the “New Players” section below for more information).

Returning players who have moved out of the geographic boundaries for NWBA since last season will be grandfathered and remain eligible to play with NWBA. Players must have been registered with NWBA during the previous season. Please send an email to the NWBA Registrar after registering to confirm your move.

Age Eligibility For Divisions

Little League Baseball has implemented age eligibility rules for its baseball divisions.

When registering for the Spring Season, a player’s Little League age will be considered as his/her age as of August 31st in the year of the season being played. (When registering for Fall Ball or Winter Training sessions, players should be registered in the NWBA division in which they will play during the upcoming Spring Season.)

For Spring 2025, players should register as per the following guidelines:

DivisionAgeBirthdate
T-Ball 1 Division4 and 5-year-oldsSept 1, 2019 to Aug 31, 2021
T-Ball 2 Division6-year-oldsSept 1, 2018 to Aug 31, 2019
Rookie Division7 & 8-year-olds *Sept 1, 2016 to Aug 31, 2018 *
Minor Division9 to 11-year-olds **Sept 1, 2014 to Aug 31, 2016 **
Major Division10 to 12-year-olds ***Sept 1, 2012 to Aug 31, 2014 ***

Please review the 2025 Little League Age Chart  for further clarification. You may also find this League Age Calculator helpful.

For the Spring Season:

* 8-year-olds can request to play up in Minor Division, subject to Assessment.

** 9-year-olds can request to play down in Rookie Division, subject to Registrar approval. Please note that 9-year-olds who play down in Rookie Division will not be eligible for Rookie All-Stars at the end of the season.

*** Please note 10 & 11-year-olds will be assigned to Minor/Major, and will be assigned to a division and team after Assessments. Please read the next section for more information.

It should be noted that placement in the Major Division is best suited for players with a reasonable base skill level to ensure their safety and competitiveness. During Assessments, we will be considering age, playing experience, safety, commitment, and anticipated playing time. It may be determined that some players are best rostered in a Minor Division team that is matched to their skill level to ensure they enjoy a safe and rewarding season.

For players born in 2012 and 2013 who are newer to the sport, you may want to consider the Diamondsides 13U team.

BC MINOR for 12 to 26-year-olds. Please visit the Diamondsides Baseball site for more information.

Uniform Deposit
All Rookie and older division players are required to provide to their Team Manager a postdated cheque (made payable to NWBA and dated July 2, 2025) for the $100.00 uniform deposit at the team practice when uniforms are handed out. This cheque will be returned when the cleaned uniform is returned at the end of the season.

Fundraising Fee
As part of NWBA’s fundraising efforts, each player for the Spring Season must pay for and sell one case of chocolates ($60.00) OR pay the fee ($30.00) in lieu of chocolate sales. Please note: After March 1, 2025 the chocolate sales option will no longer be available.

League Volunteer Deposit/Buy Out Fee
NWBA is a completely parent-run volunteer organization; we have an ongoing need for volunteers for various roles throughout the organization, at both the team level and the league level. It is expected that ALL families registering with NWBA will take on a role for their child’s team during the season, but we also really need families to help us out at the league level, too!

A deposit for the League Volunteer Fee will apply to each family registering with NWBA for the Spring Season. The deposit for the League Volunteer Fee is $100 for T-Ball Division players and $200 for all other divisions. The League Volunteer Fee will be collected by the Team Parent of the oldest/only child registered with NWBA in each family at the start of the 2025 Spring Season. Cheques will be returned to families at the end of the season, if they have met their team-level AND league-level volunteering commitment. Families who know they will be unable to volunteer at the league level this spring can opt for the Volunteer Buy Out Fee at the time of registration. Please read more about these deposits and fees on our League Volunteer Fee page.

Please also see our Parent Volunteer Roles page for more information about the roles that parents are expected and encouraged to take on at both the team level AND the league level. Most roles are pretty straightforward, but training is provided where required. You will find that volunteering with our league is a great way to meet other NWBA families while supporting healthy living for local youth through involvement in sport. Please contact the NWBA Volunteer Coordinator for more information.

As a great way to meet your league volunteer commitment and to have a say in how our league operates, we welcome you to join our board right now in one of the many board roles we still have vacant!
