DescriptionMinor Division is the division where players start to pitch to their opponents! This division also introduces players to stealing, bunting, and sliding. Base paths are extended to 60 feet and the pitching distance is 46 feet (42 feet initially for 9 year old players). During games, scores are kept and pitches are counted. Parents of Minor Division players are expected to be involved in Field Prep, Scorekeeping, and Pitch Counting. Please see our Game Rules page for more information on Interlock Rules for this division.

Season DurationThe regular Spring Season typically runs from early April to mid-June.
Additional PlayAll Minor Division players will be invited in May to try out for the coach-selected competitive Minor “All-Stars Team.” This team will represent New West at the District 6 Minor (9/10s) All-Star tournament in July. The winner of that tournament advances to the BC Provincials in late July.
NWBA also typically offers Fall Ball opportunities in September and October, and Winter Training programs in November to mid-December and in January to mid-March, for all Minor Division players who are interested. Registration for “post-season” programs is separate from registration for the regular Spring Season program. Post-season programming is dependent on sufficient registration and parent volunteer (coach) availability. Players should register in the Fall Ball and Winter Training sessions that correspond in level to the division they will play in the following spring. Please consult your child’s current Spring Season coach if you are unsure about the appropriate division for your child’s “post-season” programming.
