NWBA is a volunteer-run organization. Parent participation is vital to ensuring that the baseball program is successful and registration fees are kept reasonable.
Upon registration, parents automatically become members of NWBA, and have a responsibility to volunteer their time to help ensure that our league runs smoothly.
Although game responsibilities vary slightly for each division, every family in our membership, particularly during our busy Spring Season, is expected to fulfill their volunteer commitment to:
1. their child’s team (by volunteering at their child’s games),
2. AND to our league (as a board member, coach, coordinator, event organizer, or event support volunteer)
For the 2025 Spring Season, each NWBA family is required to:
1. provide a $100 (T-Ball) OR $200 (Rookie, Minor & Major) post-dated cheque as a Volunteer Fee Deposit (more details about that can be found below…),
2. OR pay $100 (T-Ball) or $200 (Rookie, Minor & Major) upfront at the time of registration for the Volunteer Buy Out, if you know that your family will be unable to volunteer at the league level for the 2025 Spring Season. (Team-level volunteering is still expected of ALL NWBA families–including families who pay the Volunteer Buy Out.)
Please note that the Volunteer Fee Deposit/Volunteer Buy Out is required per family, and not per participant.
During the online registration process for the 2025 Spring Season, parents will be required to indicate their willingness to volunteer in the following positions:
League-level volunteering roles:
a. Board Member (we still have some vacant board roles–please help us to fill them!)
b. Team Manager (aka Head Coach)–1 per team
c. Assistant Coach–only 1 per T-Ball team; max 2 per Rookie team; and max 3 for Minor & Major teams
d. Team Parent (Rookie and up)–1 per team
OR
Team-level volunteering roles:
Duties at your child’s games may include field preparation, scorekeeping, pitch counter, and snack duty, as needed, depending on your child’s division. T-Ball parents may be invited to assist T-Ball coaches with drills at practices.
AND
** Volunteering for at least TWO 3-hour shifts during our NWBA Spring Events and Tournaments to satisfy your league-level volunteering commitment, unless your family opts to pay the Volunteer Buy Out upfront at the time of registration ($100 for T-Ball or $200 for Rookie, Minor & Major).
Each Team Parent, in conjunction with their team’s Team Manager, has the authority to decide what method of assigning duties works best for their team. Team-level volunteering is expected of ALL NWBA families, including those who opt to pay the Buy Out.
All families who do not pay the Volunteer Buy Out will be required at the start of the 2025 Spring Season to supply a cheque to the Team Parent of your oldest child’s team in the amount of $100 (T-Ball) or $200 (Rookie, Minor & Major), made payable to NWBA and post-dated to July 15, 2025 with “Volunteer Fee” and your child’s/children’s name(s) in the memo line. This cheque will serve as your family’s 2025 Spring Volunteer Fee Deposit. It will either be returned to you or deposited by NWBA at the end of the season, depending on whether or not your family’s team-level AND league-level volunteering commitment is satisfied for the 2025 Spring Season.
**Please keep the following upcoming league-wide events and division tournaments in mind as opportunities for your family to fulfill your league-level volunteering commitment. Be on the lookout for updates with more details about these events (on our NWBA website/social media accounts and/or in league emails and TeamSnap messages).
